Thanks to a reader tip off, we’ve learned that the Daniel Pemberton TV Orchestra album LittleBigPlanet: Little BIG Music, is available to buy on iTunes right now, despite the release date being on Monday.
We have been unable to check this in the American iTunes store so far, but eager European fans can fire up iTunes and download the 18 track album for a mere £7.99. What are you waiting for?
Can’t wait to get your sticky hands all over Daniel Pemberton’s LittleBigMusic? neither can we. Luckily for everyone, our friends over at Offworld have scored an exclusive sneak peak, of track number 5 from the album: ‘Horny Old Man’ - one of the rare ‘b-sides’ which was not included in the full game, but as those guys speculate, might appear in later DLC packs as the planet expands and evolves.
Little BIG Music: Musical Oddities From And Inspired By Little Big Planet should appear on the iTunes Store page on December 15th.
You can find out more about Daniel over at his official website: www.danielpemberton.com and on his MySpace profile.

When Little Big Planet was first shown at GDC 2007, after calming themselves down at the excitement of the game, everyone was asking: What is that song!
The Go Team‘s now infamous Get It Together set the tone for the game perfectly and it’s hard not to listen to the song without mental images of sackboys and girls running and jumping their way around spinning windmills…
When the game launched however, players were shown a small library of more songs, just as fantastic as Get It Together and all at their disposal for inclusion in the levels that they create. There is a person behind all these songs of course, and that is BAFTA-nominated British Film and TV composer, Daniel Pemberton. Daniel has worked on a variety of TV and Film projects before he working on Little BIG Planet, including Channel 4’s hilarious Peep Show (those ‘burr-dum-do-dum-do-dink! sound clips that link the scenes and ad breaks together are a bit more familiar now).
The great news is that The Daniel Pemberton TV Orchestra are releasing an album with all the great songs that were written by Daniel in the game. ‘Little BIG Music: Musical Oddities From & Inspired By Little BIG Planet’ by The Daniel Pemberton TV Orchestra is available on 1812 Recordings as a digital download from December 15th. Anyone who’s played the game should recognise the albums track listing…
- The Orb Of Dreamers
- Sleepy Head
- Flirty Cha Cha
- Leaders Of Men [Little Big Planet Dub]
- Horny Old Man
- Rock The Jungle
- Rainbow Warrior
- Get Your Boots On

- My Advice - Part 1
- Cries In The Wind
- The Appliance Of Science [Little Big Planet Dub]
- On The Waves

Head on over to the iTunes Store page for The Daniel Pemberton TV Orchestra to get information on his previous work and expect the new album to appear there once it is available on December 15th.

Well, not quite. The developers of music puzzle game Lumines, Q Entertainment, are developing a special version of the game, themed with Little Big Planet.

Lumines was first released on PSP in Japan back in 2005 and quickly made its way around the world and on to other formats including PC and mobile phones. It’s a trippy mash up of Tetris style block shifting and point chaining - and it’s damn good fun.
It was Japanese site Dengeki that first reported the news that Lumines will be getting a Little Big Planet makeover, and a Google Translation of the press release gives us the following Engrish:
KYUENTATEINMENTO, will be distributed this winter for PS3 to download the software for Lumines, Super Nova, SCE, the PS3 and collaboration software to the RITORUBIGGUPURANETTO said.
『ルミネス スーパーノヴァ』は、パズルゲームと音楽を融合させたエンタテインメントソフトのシリーズ最新作。 The Super Nova’s Lumines, a puzzle game that blends music and ENTATEINMENTOSOFUTO latest film series. 今回のコラボーレーションで、作中にに『リトルビッグプラネット』をモチーフとしたスキンが登場する。 The KORABORESHON,’‘作中RITORUBIGGUPURANETTO to the skin’s appearance and motifs. スキンを手に入れるには、さまざまなモードをプレイする必要があるという。 Skin to get a variety of modes that need to play. 果たしてどこで出現するのだろうか? It will appear where?
RITORUBIGGUPURANETTO? That’s hilarious!
We think it’s great that other games developers are seeing the potential in Little Big Planet and promoting LBP like this. Can any other you think of other games that would be great to have endorsing LBP like this?
If you fancy playing it on PC, it’s not that expensive - you can go and play it here.
Otherwise, you can wait for Lumines to arrive on PSN and play on your PlayStation 3. Nice!

Since launch, residents of Little Big Planet will no doubt of noticed a few oddities in the game. Like, for example - why their Play, Create and Share scores remain at zero. Where are the scores for all that hard work and play!?

Score FAIL
Sam_Protagonist, Senior Community Development Manager posting on the Official PlayStation EU forums, shed some light on the feature earlier this week…
It’s not exactly broken, but it is deactivated at present.
Until we’re happy with server performance we’ve switched off a few online features, Play Create Share scoring being one, in order to help the service to remain stable. The good news is that we’re not far from reaching stability, so expect this to return soon. As soon as there’s an exact date for its return I’ll let you know.
That sounds reassuring. Or not.
It’ll be good to see it up and running in the game, although whether or not it will backwardly add all your previous scores for time spent playing, creating and sharing looks pretty unlikely.
A PlayStation community team lead has revealed on the Official PlayStation forums how it is possible to play levels you’ve created which have been moderated.
Community Team Leader, MusterBuster states:
I have a solution for you!
Can I ask you to restart your console, and do not log in to the PlayStation Network.
Whilst offline, enter LittleBigPlanet and edit the level on My Moon - then save it on to a different slot.
Log back in, and re-publish
So there you go. Sony moderating levels and then Sony telling you how to get around it. Thank goodness there are dedicated community support staff around like MusterBuster to help out the more unfortunate of us. Top marks for Community Support MusterBuster!
If you’re still having problems with this, once your level is copied using the method above, you can save your level as an object and save to your library before placing it in a new level. If you have a very large level, you may need to save sections as objects, but both methods should work for re-publishing your content.
Naturally, we wouldn’t have to do this if levels were not being moderated in their rather heavy handed yet mysteriously uninformative way.
Here’s another one of our levels, this one was made in beta, and is more of a little journey than a challenging level. Still, you can find this level live right now on the LPB servers, and it has just been voted the number one favourite level of gamebattles.com, hooray!
This is one of the levels now available online created by the LittleBigPlanetoid team. We’ll continue to update with more over time, maybe even some later today if you’re lucky!
This one is entitled ‘The Biggest Jump EVAH!’, a short level with a big jump, that is possible to make, as this video proves!
Wow, this is incredible! In this level LittleBigPlanet is changed into something that no longer resembles the game we’ve come to love. It’s another one of those levels that makes you rethink the tools we’ve just been (or are about to be) given, and what possibilities exist for creativity. It reminds us of this TED talk on new and interesting materials, in which the talkers explain that once you see something you didn’t know was previously possible, your world and how you perceive it, is changed.
Update: I’ve been corrected, it is Gradius not R-type, my knowledge of side-scrolling space shooters proven to be a failure once again.
SCEA has announced a new LBP online space called the LittleBigWorkshop.
Imagine a place where all LBP players and creators can gather to share their experiences and ideas; a place where you can plan your creations with special tools and connect with other LBP fans to collaborate and share ideas; a place to show off and demonstrate your greatest achievements, with the ability to teach others in CREATE and SHARE; a location where you can access everything LBP, including tutorial videos, user-generated content, and etc…
Along with standard stuff such as video media and wallpaper downloads, the workshop will also encourage creativity by providing users with some interesting tools. Amongst the tools is a blueprint level design assistant, which will allow you to sketch out your level ideas before making them. The workshop also will allow users to share videos and imagery of their creations to inspire one another and show off. Read more about the LittleBigWorkshop on the SCEA LBP news site.
