The Zero Punctuation LittleBigPlanet review has arrived

Feb 4th 2009 - 7:06 PM

Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw, the legendarily harsh games reviewer from The Escapist Magazine’s Zero Punctuation has reviewed LittleBigPlanet. We’ve secretly been hoping for him to review LittleBigPlanet, and it’s finally arrived. Brace yourselves.

Contains swearing (duh!).

We’re simply not going to comment on this review, as all of Yahtzee’s reviews are, amongst other things, pure 100% flame bait; so we’ll kindly decline the offer to make any remarks about the review whatsoever and save typing out the words ZOMG, PS3LOL or WTFBBQ.
Doh, too late, just did it.

Though, if you’re new to Zero Punctuation, then we suggest you watch the Super Smash Bros Brawl review and then the mailbag showdown which followed it.
The GTA IV review was good too, though once we start listing the good reviews, we’ll be here all day. Go watch them all.

Thousands of people being SackRoll’D

Jan 9th 2009 - 5:05 PM

The world’s been going Sackboy MAD over the past 48 hours, since jjmusicman‘s amazing video of ‘Sack Astley - Never gonna give you up’ hit the web late on Weds evening.

Within minutes of putting our eyes back in their sockets after first seeing the video, we rushed off to buy SackRoll.com. The site was live and fully operation just 5 hours after we first saw the post from jjmusicman on the LittleBigWorkshop forums. We even ate dinner, did the washing up and watched some telly with the missus during that time as well.

The Official YouTube video has cranked up hefty 75,000 views and combined with our own copy of the video on SackRoll.com there has been well over 100,000 views across the Internet. That’s over 38 people every minute being SackRoll’D!

To celebrate this joyous awesomeness, SackRoll.com has unleashed some SackRoll banners to pimp out your site or forum with. You can get them at sackroll.com/heart.

More people have PlayStation Home than LittleBigPlanet, we cry

Jan 9th 2009 - 11:42 AM

At CES 2009 yesterday, Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz “riiiidge raaacer” Hirai announced that LittleBigPlanet has sold 1.3 million units worldwide. We’re a bit confused by that as we’ve been studying VGChartz.com who claim the figure is 1.82m, but then we’re inclined to believe Sony in this instance.

Anyway… Mr Hirai also revealed that 3.4 million people have downloaded PlayStation Home. That’s over double the number of people who have LittleBigPlanet! Has the entire world gone mad!? We don’t care if Home is free! Everyone should own a copy of LittleBigPlanet! Everyone! Just look how many exclaimation marks are being used in this news item!

Let’s just remind ourselves about these two pieces of software…

PlayStation Home:

PlayStation Home

“Hi, we’re in Delaware.”

LittleBigPlanet:

FUN

Sackboy! Paint! Stickers! Nipple cripples!

Ok, so we’re taking a cheap poke at PlayStation Home. Let’s not forget that according to one of the U.S Producers on LittleBigPlanet, ‘efong’, a LittleBigPlanet Home space is being “worked on. So at least we can look forward to that coming to Home.

In the meantime - Do you know someone who has PlayStation Home but not LittleBigPlanet? Get on their case and make sure they have a copy of the bestest most awesomerist game ever!

LittleBigPlanet has today been rick-rolled.

PSN user jjmusicman today unleashed his epic video of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up. Yes, the sack-roll has come to town.

It's arguably the best LittleBigPlanet Machinima that has hit the web to date. Massive congrats to jjmusicman for the great work!

[UPDATE]

Some crazy hardcore LBP fanboys have created an official place to get Sackrolled! Check out www.sackroll.com (the site should be available worldwide within 48 hours)
