If you’re one of the many people who like ninjas (and obviously, LittleBigPlanet), then you might be interested in these T-Shirts which we noticed pop up on angryninja.com. They’re fan made and totally unofficial but they do have a certain appeal. The smiley happy face on Sackboy as he slips through the night in his ninja robes is, for some people, going to be worth the $21.95 asking price.

Tenuous link: Did you know that Will Smith is producing a new Karate Kid movie,
and his son is playing Karate Kid? Crazy times.
So, if ninjas are your thing, check out the Happy Ninja Sackboy T-Shirts on zazzle.com. If however, ninjas are not your thing, then you’ll have to wait for the day that the robot/pirate/zombie Sackboy t-shirts arrive…
A fellow LittleBigPlanet fan, Leigh, has contacted us to let us know about his craft project he’s been working on.
It’s pretty straightforward: The project is to recreate Sackboy’s control Pod from the LittleBigPlanet main menu.
We think Leigh has done a great job, and he even manages to sneak some stickers in there.

Complete with Pop-it and sticker menu!
Good work Leigh! You can see more of his work on this rather fun project in his Flickr album.
Has LittleBigPlanet inspired any other community members to get the paper and scissors out, to start creating? If it has, let us know.
You may have noticed by now that Media Molecule name their patches after cheeses, the last one being called Roqueforte and the one before that Emmental. Today Mm have posted a look at their cheeseboard, a pungent selection of forthcoming patch snacks, the first of which, Edam, we should see some time in February and features some quite major bug fixes. Cornish Yarg, a cheese described as having a creamy and soft outside and a crumbly centre, will include new creative abilities - could this include the much desired image import tool? We certainly hope so!
Edam contains a set of bug fixes and is currently in testing. We are hoping for this to be out into the world by mid February (fingers crossed). Specifically the fixes are:
* Failed to save profile’ message not being displayed when a users profile is full.
* Object Capture Bug: switch connectors being deleted when an object is captured.
* Failed to load profile issue :where the user is thrown out to the XMB due to a texture that is not registered in their profile being present in their pod.
* Text not displaying in the text chat window.
* Slow rewind due to moderation check.
* Save file corruption which caused the game to crash when placing any object in an emitter in any level.Cornish Yarg contains many fabulous things, most excitingly new creative abilities – woo!! This will be a big delivery and so we want to make sure that it gets to you without any bugs and so we are planning very extensive testing which may involve some of you guys (more details out soon). This has only just started the testing process which usually takes 6-8 weeks minimum. Further announcements will be made in February.
Leerdammer: This delivery will really help people who are experiencing issues with lagging/packet loss. This improvement is still in development, which means it will be out after Cornish yarg but we aren’t sure when, rest assure Amy is hard at work. Announcements will be made throughout feb.
With no mention of a patch coming closer than February, we wonder what today’s scheduled server maintenance will bring… stay tuned!
Since the game launched, the fan-made machinima videos have been trickling in. The recent rick-rolling ‘sackroll’ video proved to be a hit across the web when it was unleashed a few weeks back.
One of the latest videos however, goes down the video game mashup route, moulding LittleBigPlanet with Guitar Hero World Tour and at the same time, honouring one of rocks greatest legends, Jimi Hendrix.
Fantastic work!
It’s been a while, but the time has come for us to release our second Designer Sticker Pack! This month, talented illustrator Will Scobie gives us 11 exclusive stickers to download for free in LittleBigPlanet.

World renowned international knitting superstar, Alan Dart has unleashed his famous Sackboy Knitting pattern for free.
Thanks to the UK newspaper The Sun, the knitting pattern that was previously featured in UK knitting magazine Simply Knitting, has been made available as a high resolution PDF download.
Oh my god, he’s got a beanie! Too cute!
The knitting pattern article itself, features an items list showing everything you’ll need, full dimensions for all the various parts of a Sackboy, plus a multitude of helpful knitting tips. Like how to do a mattress stitch! We’re a bit baffled by some of that geeky knitting terminology though, so you might need to go ask your Gran about just exactly what “(K5, k2tog, K4) to end. [50 sts]” means.
So, grab your balls (of wool, ahem) and get knitting your very own Sackboy!
ANd of course, just in case that The Sun download link ever dies, we’ve got the PDF right here for you to download. We’ve also popped on a screen-resolution version too.
Screen resolution (PDF, 3.21 MB)
Print resolution (PDF, 10.5 MB)

LittleBigPlanet has today been rick-rolled.
PSN user jjmusicman today unleashed his epic video of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up. Yes, the sack-roll has come to town.
It's arguably the best LittleBigPlanet Machinima that has hit the web to date. Massive congrats to jjmusicman for the great work!
[UPDATE]
Some crazy hardcore LBP fanboys have created an official place to get Sackrolled! Check out www.sackroll.com (the site should be available worldwide within 48 hours)
MuffinMan71 over on the LittleBigWorkshop forums reports that today he received a notice from Sony informing him that Marvel had taken offence to one of his submitted costumes, and it had subsequently been removed. After some research he notes that the offending costume appeared to be of ‘The Thing’ and that other Marvel based costumes had also been removed from user profiles.

Whether Marvel will take this further and start asking Sony to moderate costumes in-game instead of just the online galleries is unknown, but if they did try anything, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time. In 2004 Marvel sued NCsoft, publisher of Super Hero based MMORPG, City of Heroes, citing IP Infringement. In 2005 the lawsuit was dismissed.
So how far Marvel will go is unclear, but one thing is… at a time when other companies are explicitly asking for content based on their IP NOT to be moderated, it seems that some companies still don’t get it. Of course It is possible that Marvel are preparing to create some official costumes of their own, as predicted in our top 20 run down, but even then this over-active protection of IP, and direct wrist-slapping to their own fanbase, seems over the top, rather pointless, and far more likely to damage their brands in the long run than it will strengthen them.
In last weeks IGN interview, Alex Evans gave an interesting insight in to some of the IP issues the LittleBigPlanet has encountered since launch, telling us that some companies have requested to be white listed. That is to say, they’ll never ask Media Molecule to pull any content containing any of their IP.
So, who are these companies asking to be whitelisted in LBP?
Well, one company certainly isn’t complaining: EA. LittleBigPlanet community levels like the beta-built Mirrors Edge and the more recent Little Dead Space have been racking up a wealth of plays in the game and a huge amount of discussion and promotion on the web. A search in Google for ‘“little big planet” “mirrors edge”’ brings around 300,000 search results - the number of times its been talked about by major gaming sites is incredible. And why would EA complain about that? It’s essentially free advertising within both a popular AAA game and it’s online web based community.
Of course, first party developers like Team Ico haven’t exactly been up in arms about their games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus being used in levels either. But then, we’d hope that community levels based on first party titles would always be excused from moderation based on copyright issues.
So, if you want to build a level in LittleBigPlanet based on a big game franchise then the options are clear: Choose a first party title published by Sony, or an EA game. And when it comes to EA, there are plenty to choose from...
There’s only one way to find out, right?
One of the new tools included in the MGS Pack is currently not available in Create mode. The tool can be seen throughout the MGS levels, included in the pack, and features a mini globe icon:

No official news is available on this tool, but it is assumed that it controls day / night settings dynamically in levels. So you could start playing a level in day and finish playing the same level at night (in the game that is, because in ‘real life’ that happens all the time). A great tool, if that’s the case.
We’re guessing that it’s not currently available in Create mode as perhaps it needs further work before being made available. Either way, we’ll report official news when we hear it.
Thanks to LeonBlade on LittleBigWorkshop for the pic.
So. You just got LittleBigPlanet. Maybe you were one of the hundreds of thousands of people opening up the game on Christmas Day, or perhaps it was a birthday present, or gift from a persuasive friend.
Either way, one thing is clear: You’re a noob. And you probably have noob questions. So, the Planetoid is here to give you some answers to those common questions that are tormenting your mind, helping you to get on your feet and running around. Let’s get started.
Despite it being Chrimbo, it seems some Mm folk are still in the office, poor buggers.
Alex (we assume Evans?) has posted news on the Mm blog that a little bug introduced in 1.07 that affects creation capturing, has a fix in the works, but it will take a short while to hit the servers, because of Christmas. If you are experiencing any issues, check out the community-found work around video on their blog too.
In the same post, Alex discusses how this bug is actually to do with a new set of tools coming our way some time soon…
For those interested in the behind-the-scenes stuff, the change that we made to popit that caused all the kerfuffle is part of a suite of changes we’re making under the hood, that will let us & you the community track not just levels, but individual creations and how they are used and distributed in levels, amongst the community. I can’t give any more details yet, but I promise it will be worth it, especially for budding creators and object sharers!
intriguing!
