The latest film from acclaimed director/producer Tim Burton features characters with very a similar design to our ever loved Little Big Planet mascot, Sackboy.
'9' is "A post-apocalyptic nightmare in which all of humanity is threatened." and the latest official trailer shows beautifully hand-crafted characters complete with chunky stitching - and some even sport a more than familiar zip running down their chest. The trailer also features a giant mechanical evil skull that bears a striking resemblance to Skulldozer, which appears in the games 'The Wedding' levels.

Little Big Planet and it's leading star were first shown during GDC Spring 2007. We don't quite know when concepts for 9 were first started, but there is always a chance that Tim Burton and his team saw that special something in our little sack friend and are simply paying homage to his greatness. Either way, Tim Burton's films are nearly always nothing short of brilliant so we'll be looking forward to seeing 9 with great anticipation.
9 is rather unsurprisingly out on 09/09/09 and you can watch the trailer on Apple Trailers.
There’s definitely a very, very close resemblance. Almost creepy close.
Wow. That’s uncanny. Either there’s going to be an awesome add on for LBP, or someone is getting sued. I hope it’s the first option.

Actually it’s probably Sackboy that’s paying homage to this movie!
It’s based on a short animation by Shane Acker which was being shown as early as 2004 (therefore being made a lot earlier than that!).
