Server maintenance will be taking place on the LBP servers tomorrow, so you might want to get those tissues ready… to catch the tears of joy! Well, that’s what we can hope at least, after Community Development Manager Sam_Protagonist last week proclaimed that “updates coming to LBP will make you cry with happiness”. Waaaaah!
The official message, which appears in-game, reads:
Server Maintenance
The LittleBigPlanet™ Servers will be undergoing some maintenance from 10:00 on 22th January 2009.
Please refer to LittleBigPlanet.com for further details.
Apart from the obvious assumption that January 22th is a real date and not just an entity which exists in a mind altering dimension the other side of space and time, we assume this to be 10am GMT (2am PST / 5am EST) January 22nd 2009. You can also try checking LittleBigPlanet.com for more details, but we couldn’t find any.
We’ve no idea if the maintenance tomorrow on the servers will involve any simultaneous client side patches, there is certainly no reason to believe that 1.08 ‘Cornish Yarg’ will be dropping its smelly presence at the same time, but hey - we can hope, right?

Just to clarify, as we said above there was indeed no reason at all to believe this maintenance would coincide with anything client-side, like a new patch. Sam Protagonist has clarified this to the community:
Today’s server maintenance is a small upgrade to systems and nothing major. 1.08 is still in development and isn’t due just yet, neither is this a fix for any of the online connection issues some people have been experiencing. You may notice a small improvement, you may not, either way it’s a necessary but small maintenance job today.

I just played LBP but that message doesnt show up..
More reason to get to work on my level. =)
thanks for the update you guys are fast and in perfect time to do the mantinece fix because im not sure if its the server or not but when ever im done playing the game i let the hdd signal run then when its done i turn it off the next time i play what i did previosly is gone and i have to do it again
so, we have a start time (with no time zone) and no expected end time… i wish MM would tell us more.

My copy of LBP won’t Load? It gets to the HDD screen and then goes back to the PlayStation cross bar screen.
Hasn’t done this before. I hope the Update hasn’t killed my game.
