Sent to our inbox only minutes ago, photos of possibly the best cake ever made. Cjsm, the creator behind this cake, says
“We just completed a cake for my daughter’s birthday and thought you might enjoy seeing it. LBP is the only game she plays and we thought it would be cute to immortalize her sackgirl in gum paste!“

Indeed we did enjoying seeing it, and now we can’t help but wonder what it tastes like. Mmmm cake.
More photos of this, and some other awesome cakes are available on the creator’s Flickr stream.
Top of the morning to ya’!
The Japanese LittleBigPlanet site has revealed that a costume will be released to celebrate this years St Patrick’s Day (which is next Tuesday), by releasing a Leprechaun costume!

Wow. That’s some green you have there.
Aw, surprise surprise, he’s cute!
The costume is available from the Japanese Store right now for free. Expect to see this on the North American and European Stores later today when the stores update.
We’re hoping that there will be some paid for content too, perhaps the Killzone 2 content? Kai and Nariko? Sepiroth? Bumblebee? Buz, Patapon, Little Monkey King? There are quite a few waiting to be released…
St Patrick’s Day is celebrated all over the world, mostly by people who aren’t actually Irish - but everyone likes a bandwagon and an excuse to drink Guiness celebrate Irish culture.
Oh yes, and If you’re lucky (or have ‘the luck of the Irish‘), you might be able to pick up one of the millions of silly Guiness hats that are available around the world at this time of the year. We literally have about 5 of them, here in the Planetoid observatory. One from Japan!
So, keep an eye out for the St Patrick’s Day Leprechaun costume on the LittleBigStore later today, and we’ll be posting an update of all the upcoming DLC later today too.
Thanks to macaca_nana and spisbell for sending this in. Sorry we were asleep, else it would have been up sooner
The first screenshots of the rumoured Sackboy DLC content that is coming to Hot Shots / Everybody’s Golf have hit the web. Suffice to say, Sackboy looks freaking awesome!
No further discussion is required, these screenshots should do the talking for themselves…

If you haven’t already got Hot Shots / Everybody’s Golf, this would be a pretty good reason to pick it up.
This DLC pack with Sackboy is available in Japan from tomorrow, giving players the ability to play in a variety of Sackboy costumes. We’ll post news of release dates in Europe and North America when we hear of them…
[UPDATE]
The Sackboy DLC Pack for Hot Shots / Everybody’s Golf will be available in North America and Europe from 12th March too. Yay!
The third British Academy Video Games Awards took place in London tonight. Everyone from B-List Celebrities, Games Industry professionals, journalists and those “PR types” attended.
And of course, amongst the developers there, were the Media Molecule team, apparently arriving in limousines - nice.

Yep. That looks like a video games awards event…

All sorts of famous people attend these kind of things…

Yay! Mm pick up their Bafta award.
Media Molecule and LittleBigPlanet walked away with the BAFTA Award for Artistic Achievement, which was handed to them by the extremely awesome Charlie Brooker.
The game was nominated in the following award categories….
- Casual - Electronic Arts’ BOOM BLOX
- Best use of Audio - Dead Space
- Technical Achievement - Spore
- Original Score - Dead Space
- GAME Award of 2008 (voted for by the public) - Call of Duty 4
- Artistic Achievement - LittleBigPlanet
For a full list of nominations (and soon, winners), check out the BAFTA Video Games Awards 2009 nominations page.
The entire team at Media Molecule are currently travelling from their offices in Guildford to the London Hilton in Park Lane in a convoy of Limos. Here they will be attending the British Academy Video Games Awards ceremony, where our beloved LittleBigPlanet is nominated for six of the prestigious awards. The BBC visited the Mm offices ‘today’ to run a little piece on them…
We wish you all the best of luck, let’s hope to see A D.I.C.E style sweeping occur! We’ll be updating with the results as soon as we get them.
As time goes on, the uses of LittleBigPlanet are continually expanding, through innovations in level creation, ideas and sharing through the community, plus more unexpected uses of the game for things like methods of learning and LittleBigPlanet as an educational platform.
A recent and somewhat amusing use of the game is from Hypnotherapist & Author, Dan Jones. He’s decided to use Sackboy as a puppet for showcasing his “hypnotic induction”:
This might be something to save for your lunch break or that stressful time in your working day. Then again, this guy is a Hypnotherapist, so use at your own risk. Otherwise you might end up being part of some kind of worldwide Sack-slave army like that bit in Batman Forever when Jim Carrey (as The Riddler) installs his funky set-top boxes to take over Gotham City.
Or something.
There has been a fair bit of information about the upcoming Sackboy figures and toys in the past month, and some recent photos have confirmed the most awesomerist of things: Toy2R will be producing Qee Sackboy figures.
Qee figures sit alongside Kubrick figures in the mainstream of collectable vinyl figures. But Qee figures are much better than Kubrick figures because, well - they just are.
We hadn’t realised that Toy2R would be producing these until now and that makes these new pictures from the 2009 US ToyFair that extra bit more exciting.

Plus, some additional information is revealed from the photos:
Little Big Planet QEE Series 1 Designer Vinyl (Toy2R)
- One of the biggest video game releases of 2008!
- Diamond Comic Distributors and TOY2R is proud to announce the collaboration between the QEE beand and Sony to offer fans the lovable SACKBOY character from the video game hit Little Big Planet
- This randomly mixed 20 piece assortment features some of the core versions of SACKBOY from the game in retail-friendly blind-box packaging.
- Also includes some special DIY versions allowing fans to create their own version, just like in the game!
- Join the fun and excitement of Little Big Planet as the SACKBOY QEE figure tags along and shows the world your creativity!
- Estimated SRP - $8.99-9.99
- ETA -Q3 2009

A regular Qee figure
As we first thought, these Qee figures will follow the traditional Qee method of randomly mixing the figures so when you buy one, you never quite know which one you’ll be getting. This of course makes them more collectable as you try to get hold of the ones missing from your collection.
At a price point of around $9.99 (Qee’s normally sell in the UK for £6), it will be quite expensive to collect all 30 of them but just a couple of them should be enough to keep most fans happy.
You can see some more of the fantastic Qee collections on the official site, including photos of the recent Simpsons Qees.
Thanks to @Flipyap on Twitter for sending this in (original pics from ActionFigure).
Eagle-eyed LBP fans have spotted that following the 1.10 patch which came out today, an ‘Ancient Monkey‘ costume has appeared in the icon for the ‘design a Sackboy competition winners’ section of the LittleBigStore.
We’re calling it ‘Ancient Monkey’ because it appears to be ancient and it looks like a monkey (plus nick, a regular reader called it that):

It’s highly likely that this costume will be free when released, as all the other ‘design a Sackboy competition winners’ have been free. Everyone loves a freebie right?
We’ve only really got one thing to say about this news:
“Oooowwhhhhh! Tripppppppiiiitarrrrkaarrrrrrr!“.
Sod it, let’s splash out and embed something incredibly cool:
Remember, people - With our thoughts, we make the world. /discodance
Update: The Monkey appears to be none other than the Monkey King from Journey to the West, a story from Chinese literature that was made into a most excellent 80’s TV show, and was recently adapted for the stage by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Well done to commenters Southe and Joeli83cr for spotting that! Here’s the competition entry:

Patch 1.10 is now live, and weighs in at 22Mb. It went live early this morning (GMT time).
As far as we know, it’s a data patch (as opposed to an updates patch - a cheese). Data patches contain new costume data, allowing you to see those costumes when you’re playing online, for example.
We were expecting to see some new DLC costumes this week and a much anticipated Killzone 2 ‘pack-thing’. We’re not exactly sure as nothing specific was announced, but we know that there will definitely be two much anticipated Killzone costumes (Sev and Helghast).
Other DLC coming up includes Final Fantasy’s Sephiroth, Buzz, Patapon, Nariko and Kai from Heavenly Sword and the Bumblebee design-a-sackboy-competition-winner costume which appears to have gone AWOL.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in! That’s you James and Christopher ![]()
Sony have for some time now been making the most of LittleBigPlanet as the ideal outlet for cross-promoting the leading games of PlayStation 3. Metal Gear Solid, Street Fighter, Loco Roco, Wipeout, God of War, Heavenly Sword - just a handful of the big names which have come to LBP through costumes, levels and ‘create’ DLC.
But it works both ways, and Sackboy is starting to find his way in to other games. A Little Big Planet PlayStation Home space is already in the works, Sackboy PSN avatars are coming soon and don’t forget that last December it was rumoured that Sackboy will be coming to Hot Shots / Everybody’s Golf 5.
The most recent appearance of Sackboy’s friendly face is in SingStar (yes, we play SingStar and love it very much). It’s been live for some weeks now, but you can buy a Little Big Planet wallpaper from the SingStore (99p in the UK).
The wallpaper theme allows you to play SingStar with Little Big Planet background music, an animated background of various stickers moving in and out, plus of course: Sackboy’s smiling face…
It’s a bit pricey and of course, it’s a cash in for Sony on the brand that they’ve built up for Little Big Planet, but it’s a bit of fun too. Check it out in the SingStore wallpapers section, it’s called “Little Big Wallpaper“.
Keep your eyes peeled for Little Big Planet and Sackboy appearing in yet more games as time goes by.
Up until now, it’s been pretty tough to gain your way in to the elite group of LBP Royalty, and get one of those tasty ever-so-exclusive gold crowns to adorn your Sackboy.
Well, things are changing! Over on the U.S PlayStation Blog, an announcement has been made that these crowns will be given out a lot more frequently, and for a wider range of community activites. Here are the three main areas in which efforts could be rewarded with a Crown:
#1 A “Gold Star” on the LittleBigWorkshop
Frequently, when we’re on LittleBigWorkshop.com, every so often, we come across a submission, whether it is an inspiration, workshop or forum post that makes us smile. As a small token of our appreciation, we like to put a smile on your face too by giving you a Community Prize Crown.#2 Raising our Eyebrows
Every once in awhile, LBP fans do something that immediately grabs the attention of a few people, spreads on the web, and eventually is talking about it. We love it when this happens, and as a sign of thanks, you may just get a Community Prize Crown in your mail box.#3 LittleBigChallenges
We’re in the process of coming up with more LittleBigChallenges, so get your creative thoughts together and stay tuned next week for LittleBigChallenge2.
If you think you’ve already earnt one of these for your work, check the full article and let them know!
Need we say more? Oh OK then fine, The US Playstation blog today confirmed these new costumes, to coincide with the release of Patapon 2! Geif!
